BIOGRAPHY

VINCENT WARNIER, CONCERT ORGANIST
Organiste Titulaire, Church of Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, Paris, France

Since winning the Grand Prix de Chartres for interpretation at the 1992 Chartres International Organ Competition, and his appointment four years later as organiste titulaire at Saint-Étienne-du-Mont in Paris – where, along with the composer-organist Thierry Escaich, he succeeded Maurice and Marie-Madeleine Duruflé, Vincent Warnier has secured his place as one of the leaders and most major figures in the 21st century French organ school.  He studied at the Strasbourg Conservatory (CNR) and at the Conservatoire national supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris, where his professors included André Stricker, Daniel Roth, Michel Chapuis, Olivier Latry and Marie-Claire Alain. He also earned an advanced degree in musicology from the Sorbonne in Paris.

His discography includes 20 recordings on the Intrada label and these recordings show the extraordinary versatility of his talent.  Vincent Warnier has received critical international acclaim for his recordings of the music of Bach, Mendelssohn, Widor, Franck, Duruflé (complete works), Saint-Saëns, Poulenc, Éric Tanguy, Thierry Escaich and Jacques Lenot.

In addition to his position at Saint-Étienne-du-Mont, Vincent Warnier was appointed organiste titulaire at the Cathedral of Notre-Dame in Verdun in 1997.

He regularly performs in the prestigious concert halls and cathedrals of Lucerne, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Beijing, Berlin, Barcelona, Budapest and Lyon (where he served as organist in residence at the Auditorium Maurice Ravel from 2013 to 2015). Over the last year in Paris, he inaugurated the newly built organs of the Radio France Auditorium with the Orchestre national de France under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach and the Philharmonie of Paris with the National Orchestra of Lyon under the direction of Leonard Slatkin.  Often heard on the airwaves of France Musique, Vincent Warnier participates in numerous programs such as La Tribune des critiques, Sacrées Musiques and Le Mitan des musiciens, where he shares his thoughts and musical scholarship with his listeners.
